A Tiny Bit of July 1 Trivia

Today is July 1, 2009 so how about a little trivia!

On July 1, 1963 the US Postal Service instituted the ZIP code system. Know what it stands for? Zone Improvement Plan

And what did it cost to mail a letter?

On July 1, 1867, Canada became a self-governing dominion of Great Britain as the British North America Act took effect. Here's wishing our Canadian neighbors a Happy Canada Day!

On July 1, 1972, the final episode of "Bewitched" was aired. Remember eccentric Aunt Clara? Do you remember what she collected?

LOL...doorknobs!

"Doorknobs are all very well, but they're not family. I count them when I'm lonely, but somehow today, you know they didn't seem to do the trick." (Aunt Clara on Bewitched)

But the real trivia is the fact that Marion Lorne, the actress who played Aunt Clara, was a doorknob collector in real life. Many of the doorknobs that Aunt Clara had on the show were from her personal collection!

"The more we learn the more we realize how little we know." - R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983).
